Abstract
Valovi na vodi se lako uočavaju. Od ranog djetinjstva viđala sam ih u kadi, jezeru i moru. Nesumnjivo sam doživjela veliko estetsko zadovoljstvo promatrajući ih u svoj njihovoj ljepoti i složenosti. Sada želim uživati u intelektualnom zadovoljstvu njihova razumijevanja. Koristeći intuiciju i eksperimente, prijašnje znanje o valovima, te različite uvjete, gradim formulu za valove na vodi u plitkoj i dubokoj vodi. Usprkos pojednostavljenju u kojem sam zanemarila određena svojstva vode, kao što je viskoznost koja je rezultat unutarnjeg trenja, i bazirala se na nježne valove male amplitude, pokazala sam geometrijsku strukturu i relaciju disperzije za takve valove na vodi.
Abstract (english)
Water waves are easy to spot. From an early age I saw them in the bathtub, the lake and the sea. I have undoubtedly experienced great aesthetic pleasure by observing them in all their beauty and complexity. Now I want to enjoy the intellectual satisfaction of understanding them. Using intuition and experiments, previous knowledge of waves, and different conditions, I build a formula for water waves in shallow and deep water. Although I neglected certain properties of water like viscosity, which is the result of internal friction, based it on "ideal" water and limited myself to gentle waves of small amplitude. Despite this simplification, I have shown the geometric structure and dispersion relation for such waves on water.
