The agent paradigm integrates research in cognitive science and artificial intelligence. The inclusion of interactive technologies, which enable students of all ages to participate actively in relevant and authentic teaching activities, significantly contributes to the quality of the teaching process and the acquisition of teaching content. Visualization of teaching content helps to better understand and adopt the material, especially with highly abstract content. There are no significant differences in the achievement of students who have been in contact with physical technological devices and students using the simulation environment as a teaching tool. According to the above, two basic research goals are set: a) to determine the impact of the application of existing simulation environments on the higher education students' adoption and understanding of the agent paradigm concepts, b) to model an agent paradigm teaching model that will contain characteristic examples and tasks in this field, presented using simulation environment. According to the goals, a three-phase research was designed and conducted over three academic years at higher education institutions. The results of the overall research showed that students achieve better results when a simulation environment is used to teach the agent paradigm. The results of the research may be guidelines for the development of new ways of teaching the agent paradigm at a higher education level.
