Abstract
Bakterije roda Listeria su gram pozitivne, štapićaste bakterije koje nemaju mogućnost stvaranja spora. Listeria monocytogenes je klinički najznačajniji predstavnik roda Listeria, a uzrokuje bolest koja se zove listerioza, koja kod rizičnih skupina kao što su trudnice i starije osobe može izazvati komplikacije, pa čak i smrt. Prije svega povezana je s konzumacijom nedovoljno termički obrađene hrane, kao što su sirovo voće i povrće, meki sirevi i meso. Spada u skupinu infekcija sa najčešćim smrtnim ishodom, zbog toga značajan aspekt preventivnog djelovanja savjetovanje skupina pod visokim rizikom o izbjegavanju svih nepasteriziranih mliječnih proizvoda, kao i nedovoljno termički obrađene ribe i morskih plodova. Rana dijagnoza i bolje razumijevanje patogeneze listerioze značajno pridonose značajno doprinose prevenciji, unaprjeđenju liječenja te smanjenju često teških posljedica ove bolesti.
Abstract (english)
Listeria bacteria are gram positive, rod-like bacteria that do not have the ability to create spores. Listeria monocytogenes is clinically the most significant representative of the genus Listeria, and it causes a disease called listeriosis, which can cause complications and even death in risk groups such as pregnant women and the elderly. First of all, it is associated with the consumption of insufficiently processed foods such as raw fruits and vegetables, soft cheeses and meat. It belongs to the group of infections with the most frequent fatal outcome, which is why a significant aspect of preventive action is advising high-risk groups on avoiding all unpasteurized dairy products, as well as insufficiently heat-treated fish and seafood. Early diagnosis and a better understanding of the pathogenesis of listeriosis contribute significantly to the prevention, improvement of treatment and the reduction of the often severe consequences of this disease.
