Abstract
U ovom radu iskoristit će se znanja stečena u područjima fizike i programiranja. Prvo će se teoretski objasniti fizikalni proces koji će biti od interesa. Produkti tog procesa su neke elementarne čestice, nazvat ćemo njih signalnim česticama. Tada slijedi objašnjenje načina na koji detektori čestica uspijevaju rekonstruirati svojstva spomenutih čestica. Definirat ćemo problem pri pravilnoj identifikaciji signalnih čestica od brojnih pozadinskih događaja koje detektor pogrešno interpretira kao tražene čestice. Na kraju, implementirano rješenje će doći u vidu neuralne mreže koja će, barem je nada, dati dobre rezultate pri pokušaju razdvajanja signala od pozadine.
Abstract (english)
In this thesis, knowledge acquired both in the field of physics and programming will be incorporated. First, we will lay down the theory behind the physical process that is of interest. Products of that process are some elementary particles, we will call them signal particles. Then we are going to explain how a particle detector might go about recording said particles. Problem will arise with some background noise, or to elaborate, with particles that the detector might mistakenly identify as our signal. Finally, a solution will be implemented in the shape of a neural network that will, hopefully, do a decent job of correctly classifying particles as a signal or a background.
