Abstract
Nuklearnu fuziju, koja se u Suncu konstantno odvija priskrbljujući nam ogromne količine energije, nije moguće objasniti klasičnom mehanikom obzirom na to da čestice u procesu fuzije moraju prijeći energetsku barijeru za koju nemaju dovoljno energije. Temperature na kojima se u Suncu odvijaju reakcije nuklearne fuzije su mnogo niže od onih koje su nam potrebne kako bi iste reakcije ostvarili na Zemlji. Razlog leži u ogromnom broju atoma vodika koji se nalaze u Suncu i sudjeluju u ovom procesu, pa se iznimno malo vjerojatni prijelazi energetske barijere odvijaju stalno i Sunce proizvodi energiju. Kvantni efekt koji objašnjava ovaj proces se zove tuneliranje.
Abstract (english)
Nuclear fusion, which occurs constantly in the Sun and supplies us with enormous amounts of energy, can’t be explained in terms of classical mechanics since particles which participate in the fusion process must tunnel through energy barrier without enough energy to do so. The temperatures at which nuclear reactions are taking place in the Sun are much lower than those we need to accomplish the same reactions on Earth. The explanation lies in the huge number of hydrogen atoms that are involved in this process in the Sun, so extremely unlikely transitions of energy barriers take place all the time and the Sun produces energy. The quantum effect that explains this process is called tunneling.
