Abstract
The biggest challenge in integrating wind power into the electric grid is wind's unpredictability and intermittency. In this work, important wind characteristics are presented and the connection between wind speed and wind power farm output power is explained. An overview of the forecasting methods used in wind speed and wind power prediction is given, with the emphasis on their variety. Various wind forecasting methods are discussed including simple persistence technique, statistical methods, hybrid approaches, and complex numerical forecasts.
Abstract (croatian)
Najveći izazov pri integriranju energije dobivene iz vjetra u električnu mrežu čini nepredvidivost i interminentnost vjetra. U ovom radu prezentirane su važne karakteristike vjetra i objašnjena je veza između brzine vjetra i energije proizvedene u vjetroelektrani. Dan je pregled metoda korištenih u prognoziranju brzina vjetra i predviđanju proizvodnje energije, s naglaskom na njihovu raznolikost. Predstavljene su metode persistencije, statističke metode, hibridni pristup te metode složenih numeričkih prognoza.
