Abstract
Starenje je nezaobilazan životni proces koji uključuje spontano i progresivno tjelesno propadanje organizma. Znanstvenici niz godina proučavaju starenje koristeći modelne organizme te nastoje objasniti utjecaj raznih vanjskih čimbenika na proces, usporiti starenje i smanjiti mogućnost razvoja bolesti u starijoj životnoj dobi. Postavljene su brojne teorije koje objašnjavaju starenje sa biološke, sociološke i psihološke razine jer se starenjem događaju brojne promjene kako u vanjskom izgledu tako i u ponašanju pojedinca. Kosa postaje sijeda, koža naborana, gubi se vid, smanjuje se snaga i izdržljivost, držanje postaje pognuto, povećava se rizik za oboljenje od raznih bolesti kao što su ateroskleroza, osteoporoza, tumori i bolesti živčanog sustava. Proces starenja nije moguće zaustaviti ali ga je raznim metodama moguće usporiti.
Abstract (english)
Aging is inevitable life process which involve spontaneous and progressive physical decay of an organism. Scientists have been studying aging using model organisms for a number of years. They are trying to explain the impact of various external factors on the process, slow down aging and reduce the risk of developing of the disease. There are numerous theories that explain aging from the biological, sociological and psychological levels because many changes are taking place in aging like changes in external appearance and behavior. Hair becomes gray, skin wrinkled, vision loses, strenght and stamina diminishes, posture becomes bent, increases risk of illness from various diseases such as atherosclerosis, osteoporosis, tumors, and nervous system disorders. The aging process can´t be stopped but it can be slowed down by various methods.
