Abstract
Ovaj rad se bavi znanstvenim činjenicama i konceptima predstavljenim u romanu "Marsovac" Andyja Weira, istražujući različite aspekte misija na Mars i preživljavanja Marka Watneyja na Crvenom planetu. Watney se suočava s problemima uglavnom fizikalne prirode, a u ovom radu ih analiziramo i tražimo moguća bolja rješenja. U radu su sažete provedene robotske misije i razmotrene moguće ljudske misije na Mars, Watneyjeve snalažljive metode za proizvodnju vode i kisika, kao i alternativna rješenja. Usto, istražili smo važnost navigacije i komunikacije u međuplanetarnim misijama, zaključno s manevrom Richa Purnella i Watneyjevom modifikacijom MAV-a (Mars Ascent Vehicle) u svrhu spašavanja s Marsa. Seciranjem Watneyjevih strategija preživljavanja, dobivamo uvid u praktičnu izvedivost buduće kolonizacije Marsa i dublje razumijevanje složenosti putovanja u svemir.
Abstract (english)
This paper deals with the scientific facts and concepts presented in the novel "The Martian" by Andy Weir, exploring various aspects of the missions to Mars and Mark Watney's survival on the Red Planet. Watney faces problems of a mostly physical nature, and in this paper, we analyze them and look for possible better solutions. The paper summarizes completed robotic missions and discusses possible human missions to Mars, Watney's resourceful methods for producing water and oxygen, as well as alternative solutions. In addition, we explored the importance of navigation and communication in interplanetary missions, concluding with Rich Purnell's maneuver and Watney's modification of the MAV (Mars Ascent Vehicle) for rescue from Mars. By dissecting Watney's survival strategies, we gain insight into the practical feasibility of future Mars colonization and a deeper understanding of the complexities of space travel.
