Abstract
Postizanje dugog i zdravog životnog vijeka je cilj današnje znanosti. Dugovječne osobe su oduvijek bile predmet interesa za znanstvenike. Godinama su istraživani geni koji leže u podlozi dugovječnosti. Genetska predispozicija je ono što izdvaja osobe izrazito dugog životnog vijeka od onih koji dožive prosječnu starost. Geni dugovječnosti iz sjene izlaze tek iznad 90-te godine života kad dominiraju nad faktorima iz okoliša. U radu ćemo se upoznati s genima dugovječnosti i vidjeti mehanizam njihova djelovanja. Na naš genom utječe epigenom koji ovisno o vanjskim inputima i unutarnjem mikrookolišu mijenja ekspresiju gena pa tako i gena dugovječnosti. Vidjet ćemo koji epigenetski mehanizmi i modifikacije prkose starenju organizama i kojim intervencijama možemo djelovati na poništavanje starenja i vraćanje epigenetskog sata unazad.
Abstract (english)
Achieving a long and healthy lifespan is the goal of today's science. Long-lived people have always been the subject of interest to scientists. For years, genes underlying longevity have been investigated. Genetic predisposition is what distinguishes people with an extremely long life expectancy from those who live to an average age. Longevity genes come out of the shadows only above the age of 90 when they dominate environmental factors. In the paper, we will get acquainted with the genes of longevity and see the mechanism of their action. Our genome is affected by the epigenome, which, depending on external inputs and the internal microenvironment, changes the expression of genes and thus the genes of longevity. We will see which epigenetic mechanisms and modifications defy the aging of organisms and what interventions we can act on to reverse aging and bring the epigenetic clock back.
