Abstract
Gimnodimini pripadaju skupini spojeva nazvanih ciklički imini. To su morski, fikotoksini koje proizvode alge dinoflagelati. Gimnodimine proizvode vrste Karenia selliformis, Alexandrium peruvianum i Alexandrium ostenfeldii. Gimnodimini imaju makrociklički prsten od 16 atoma ugljika sa spiroketalnim prstenskim sustavom i iminskom skupinom. Ova skupina toksina djeluje na način da blokira nikotinske acetilkolinske receptore na mioneuralnom spoju. Gimnodimini nisu toksični za ljude, ali testiranja na miševima su pokazala rapidne neurotoksične simptome. Uglavnom se nakupljaju u tkivu školjkaša, a za njihovu identifikaciju u ekstraktu tkiva školjkaša se koriste tehnike tekućinske kromatografije i masene spektrometrije. Iako ne predstavljaju neposrednu opasnost za ljudsko zdravlje važno je provoditi programe monitoringa školjkaša, naročito na mjestima raširenog uzgoja.
Abstract (english)
Gymnodimines belong to a larger group of compounds called cyclic imines. These are marine phycotoxins produced by dinoflagellate algae. Gymnodimines are produced by the species Karenia selliformis, Alexandrium peruvianum and Alexandrium ostenfeldii. Gymnodimines have a macrocyclic ring of 16 carbon atoms with a spiroketal ring system and an imine group. This group of toxins works by blocking nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the myoneural junction. Gymnodimines have no toxic effect on humans, but in mouse bioassay they show rapid neurotoxic symptoms. They are mainly accumulated in the tissue of bivalves, so liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques are used for their identification the extract of the shellfish tissue. Although they do not pose a direct danger to human health, it is important to carry out shellfish monitoring programs, especially in places of widespread cultivation.
