Abstract
Željezo, cink i selen su esencijalni elementi u tragovima, bitni za normalan razvoj organizma. Željezo je sastavni dio hemoglobina i mioglobina, proteina koji dopremaju kisik tkivima. Ima važnu ulogu u procesima disanja, proizvodnji energije i sinteze DNA. Nedostatak željeza predstavlja globalni zdravstveni problem. Cink je jedan od najvažnijih elemenata u tragovima u tijelu, neophodan za rast, razvoj, diferencijaciju, homeostazu, održavanje vezivnog tkiva, sintezu DNA, transkripciju RNA, staničnu diobu i stanično aktiviranje. Manjak cinka karakterizira oslabljena imunološka funkcija, gubitak apetita i usporavanje rasta. Selen je funkcionalno važan za nekoliko aspekata ljudske biologije, uključujući središnji živčani sustav, mušku reproduktivnu biologiju, endokrini sustav, mišićnu funkciju, kardiovaskularni sustav i imunitet. Veći nedostatak selena izravno je povezan s dvije endemske bolesti: KashinBeck i Keshan bolesti.
Abstract (english)
Iron, zinc and selenium are essential trace elements, important for the normal development of the organism. Iron is a component of hemoglobin and myoglobin, proteins that deliver oxygen to tissues. It plays an important role in the processes of respiration, energy production and DNA synthesis. Iron deficiency is a global health problem. Zinc is one of the most important trace elements in the body, essential for growth, development, differentiation, homeostasis, connective tissue maintenance, DNA synthesis, RNA transcription, cell division, and cell activation. Zinc deficiency is characterized by impaired immune function, loss of appetite, and growth retardation. Selenium is functionally important for several aspects of human biology, including the central nervous system, male reproductive biology, endocrine system, muscle function, cardiovascular system, and immunity. Severe selenium deficiency is directly linked to two endemic diseases: Kashin-Beck and Keshan diseases.
