Abstract
Atom je najmanja jedinica na koju se materija može dijeliti, a da element i dalje zadržava svoja karakteristična svojstva. Sastoji se od elektrona i jezgre. Jezgre atoma mogu biti stabilne ili radioaktivne. Ako su radioaktivne, jezgre procesom radioaktivnog raspada prelaze u nove jezgre. Ovaj proces primjer je dobivanja pravog niza slučajnih brojeva u prirodi. Monte Carlo kao stohastička metoda pogodna je za procjenu broja raspadnutih jezgara i njihovih vjerojatnosti raspadanja budući da za simulacije koristi nizove slučajno generiranih brojeva. Za preciznije rezultate koristi se više nezavisnih sustava. Raspad u nezavisnim sustavima može se promatrati u jednom vremenskom segmentu pa se mogu pronaći vjerojatnosti raspada pojedinog broja jezgara. Ako je vjerojatnost radioaktivnog raspada dovoljno mala, vjerojatnost raspada pojedinog broja jezgara može se prikazati Poissonovom razdiobom.
Abstract (english)
An atom is the smallest unit of matter that retains all of the chemical properties of an element. An atom consists of electrons and the atomic nucleus. Atomic nuclei can be stable or radioactive. If they are radioactive, they decay in new nuclei. Radioactive decay is an example of obtaining a true random number sequence in nature. Monte Carlo is a stochastic method and as such it is convenient for evaluating number of decayed nuclei and their decay probabilities because Monte Carlo uses random number sequences for its simulations. For more precise results we can use multiple independent systems. Radioactive decay in these independent systems can be observed in particular time interval so we can obtain probability of a decay for a certain number of nuclei. If the overall probability of radioactive decay is small enough, we can use Poisson distribution to obtain these probabilities.
