Abstract
Genska terapija i terapija matičnim stanicama postale su, u posljednje vrijeme, jedan od važnijih izazova kliničke medicine. Genska terapija bazira se na uvođenju zdravog gena u ciljane stanice putem vektora. To se može postići sa in vivo, ex vivo i in situ metodama. Matične stanice su nediferencirane stanice koje imaju sposobnost razviti se u različite tipove stanica u tijelu. Zbog svojih svojstava samoobnavljanja i diferenciranja mogu nadomjestiti druge stanice u tijelu i regenerirati oštećeno tkivo. Prisutne su gotovo u svim organima i tkivima. Genska terapija i terapija matičnim stanicama neće zamijeniti konvencionalne metode liječenja ali će u kombinaciji sa konvencionalnim liječenjem zasigurno poboljšati njihove domete.
Abstract (english)
Gene therapy and stem cell therapy have recently become one of the major challenges of clinical medicine. Gene therapy is based on the introduction of a healthy gene into target cells via the vector. This can be achieved with in vivo, ex vivo and in situ methods. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that have the ability to develop into different cell types in the body. Because of their self-replication and differentiation properties they can replace other cells in the body and regenerate damaged tissue. They are present in almost all organs and tissues. Gene therapy and stem cell therapy will not replace the conventional treatment methods but will inevitably improve their achievements in combination with conventional treatment.
