Abstract
Autotransformatori su specijalna izvedba transformatora u kojima su barem dva svitka kruto električki povezana, zbog čega se ostvaruje ušteda u materijalu i manji gubitci. Njihov glavni nedostatak je što sekundarni namot nije električki izoliran od primara, kao što je to slučaj kod klasičnog transformatora, pa lakše može doći do proboja. Zbog toga je njihova upotreba ograničena na manje prijenosne omjere. Autotransformator se primjenjuje za povezivanje dijelova elektroenergetskog sustava različitih naponskih razina, podizanje naponske razine u dijelovima mreže udaljenim od izvora, pokretanju asinkronih motora, a ako ga se izradi s pomičnim srednjim izvodom, može ga se koristiti i za fino reguliranje napona.
Abstract (english)
The Autotransformers are kind of electrical transformers in which at least two windings are interconnected electrically, which results in material savings and lower losses. The main disadvantage of an autotransformer is that it does not have the primary to secondary winding isolation of a conventional double wound transformer. Then an autotransformer can not safely be used for stepping down higher voltages to much lower voltages suitable for smaller loads. Therefore, their use is limited for less transformation ratios. Autotransformers are often used in power applications to interconnect systems operating at different voltage classes or to give a small boost to a distributin cable, to correct the voltage drop. Autotransformers can be used as a method of soft starting induction motors and as a voltage regulators.
