Abstract
Sustavi za kontrolu verzija predstavljaju alate koji služe developerima u praćenju razvoja i održavanju projekata. Koristeći ove sustave svi podaci su sigurniji, bolja je suradnja između članova tima, smanjuje se mogućnost greške i poboljšava se sam proces vođenja projekta. Postoje lokalni, centralizirani i distribuirani sustavi za verzioniranje koda. Git spada u distribuirane sustave. Svi podaci se nalaze na dva mjesta: na serveru i na lokalnom računalu, te je zbog toga jedan od najsigurnijih sustava. Sve bitne operacije su lokalne te možemo raditi offline. Podržava lako stvaranje više značajki aplikacije zahvaljujući grananju. Git je izuzetno brz, memorijski optimiziran i slobodan softver. Pisan najvećim dijelom u C-u, ali su dijelovi pisani u Perl-u, bash-u itd. Ima kriptografsku autentifikaciju povijesti promjena. Ne prati datoteke već sadržaj datoteka. Jedna od najpoznatijih internetskih stranica koja nudi Git repozitorije za otvoreni softver je GitHub.
Abstract (english)
Version control system represent tools that are used by developers in monitoring development and maintaining projects. Using these systems makes all data safer, better cooperation between team members, the possibility of errors reduced and it improves process of project management. There are local, centralized and distributed version control systems. Git is distributed system. All data in Git can be found in two places: on the server and on the local computer, and therefore it's one of the safest systems. All essential operations are local and we can work offline. Supports easily creating more features in applications because of branching. Git is very fast, memory optimized and free software. Written mostly in C, but the parts are written in Perl, bash etc. Git has cryptographic authentication of history changes. It doesn't follow the file but the content of files. One of the most popular websites offering Git repositories of open software is GitHub.
