Abstract
U svijetu svakodnevno mnogi pacijenti gube bitku protiv malignih bolesti što onkologiju stavlja pred brojne i teške izazove. Imunoterapija i pametni lijekovi predstavljaju napredne metode u liječenju raka koje u odnosu na tradicionalne metode kao što su kemoterapija i radioterapija umanjuju oštećenja okolnog zdravog tkiva. Imunoterapija potiče imunološki sustav da prepozna i uništi stanice raka, a vrste imunoterapije koje se primjenjuju su: aktivna, pasivna i adoptivna imunoterapija. Pametni lijekovi djeluju specifično na molekularne promjene unutar tumorskih stanica, a u ovu skupinu ubrajamo inhibitore topoizomeraza, inhibitore telomeraza i anti-angiogenetske lijekove. Unatoč nuspojavama ovih metoda njihov doprinos u liječenju onkoloških bolesnika je značajna promjena u onkologiji i znanosti općenito. Ove metode nude specifičniji pristup liječenju svakog pacijenta ovisno o njegovom zdravstvenom stanju te povećavaju učinkovitost liječenja pacijenata s različitim vrstama raka.
Abstract (english)
Around the world, many patients lose their battle against malignant diseases every day, posing numerous and difficult challenges for oncology. Immunotherapy and smart drugs are advanced methods of cancer treatment that cause less damage to surrounding healthy tissue compared to conventional methods such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Immunotherapy stimulates the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. The types of immunotherapy used include active, passive and adoptive immunotherapy. Smart drugs specifically target molecular changes in tumor cells, such as topoisomerase inhibitors, telomerase inhibitors and anti-angiogenic drugs. Despite the side effects of these methods, their contribution to the treatment of cancer patients is significant and has transformed oncology and science in general. These methods provide a customized approach to treating each patient based on their individual health status and increase the effectiveness of treatment for patients with different types of cancer.
