Abstract
Autizam, kao jedan od mnogih neurorazvojnih poremećaja, multifaktorska je bolest čija se etiologija istražuje već desetljećima. Poznati su brojni čimbenici, od genetskih do okolišnih, čija je uključenost u razvoj autizma dokazana brojnim provedenim istraživanjima. Otkriveni su i razni mehanizmi koje ti čimbenici pokreću i dovode do poremećaja u razvoju živčanog sustava što za posljedicu ima razvoj autizma. Usavršavanjem novih znanstvenih metoda te napredovanjem tehnologije omogućiti će se bolje razumijevanje patofizioloških procesa koji se odvijaju kod autističnih osoba, a time i pružiti podloga za razvoj adekvatnih načina liječenja i ublažavanje posljedica autizma.
Abstract (english)
Autism, as one of many neurodevelopmental disorders, is a multifactorial disease whose etiology has been investigated for decades. A number of factors are known, from genetic to environmental, whose involvement in the development of autism has been proven by numerous studies carried out. Various mechanisms that these factors trigger and lead to disorders in the development of the nervous system have also been discovered, resulting in the development of autism. The improvement of new scientific methods and the advancement of technology will enable a better understanding of the pathophysiological processes that take place in autistic people, and thus provide a basis for the development of adequate methods of treatment and alleviating the consequences of autism.
