Abstract
Metabolizam (mijena tvari) je umreženi sustav reakcija kojima stanice crpe energiju iz okoline i sintetiziraju sebi potrebne makromolekule. Metabolički putevi se dijele na anabolizam i katabolizam. Masna kiselina građena je od dugog ugljikovodičnog lanca s karbokslinom skupinom na kraju. Važne su kao molekulsko gorivo, izgrađuju membrane naših stanica, modificiraju protein i preteča su za sintezu hormona. Metabolizam ugljikohidrata događa se u tri koraka: glikoliza, ciklus limunske kiseline i oksidacijska fosforilacija. Bjelančevine su građene od aminokiselina. Želudac započinje razgradnju bjelančevina, a završava se u crijevima. Razgradnja bjelančevina i njihova sinteza u organizmu se događa istovremeno.
Abstract (english)
Metabolism (metabolism) is a networked system of reactions by which cells draw energy from the environment and synthesize the necessary macromolecules. Metabolic pathways are divided into anabolism and catabolism. The fatty acid is made up of a long hydrocarbon chain with a carboxylic group at the end. They are important as a molecular fuel, they build the membranes of our cells, they modify protein and they are a precursor for hormone synthesis. Carbohydrate metabolism occurs in three steps: glycolysis, the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. Proteins are made up of amino acids. The stomach begins to break down proteins and ends in the intestines. The breakdown of proteins and their synthesis in the body occurs simultaneously.
