Abstract
Python programski jezik koristi uglavnom automatsko, ali i ručno upravljanje memorijom. U komunikaciji sa operacijskim sustavom „dohvaća“ memorijske lokacije ukoliko su slobodne te ih koristi za izvođenje programa. Nakon uporabe te lokacije se „očiste“ i vrate OS-u za ponovnu upotrebu. Posao čišćenja obavlja sakupljač otpada (gc) ukoliko je on uključen, ukoliko nije može doći do curenja memorije. Referentno brojanje, Označi – pobriši, Označi – sažmi, Zaustavi – kopiraj su algoritmi koje gc koristi prilikom sakupljanja otpada. Ti algoritmi sakupljaju iskorištene objekte te ih spremaju u otpad oslobađajući memorijske lokacije. Međutim, postoje i objekti koji su recimo ciklički elementi neke liste te ih nije moguće pokupiti. Ti objekti ostaju u memoriji te su neupotrebljivi. Biblioteka gc-a sadrži mnogobrojne metode kojima manipuliramo izvršavanjem programa i memorijskim lokacijama koje taj program koristi. Te metode nam prikazuju trenutačno stanje memorije, sakupljive i nesakupljive objekte, proces skupljanja po generacijama, čiste memoriju ukoliko to mi želimo prije nego se prag koji pokreće automatsko čišćenje nadmaši. Korištenjem automatskog upravljanja memorijom pomoću sakupljača otpada pruža, efikasan, pouzdan i jednostavniji rad programera. Ukoliko programer želi potpunu kontrolu nad upravljanjem memorijom koristit će ručno upravljanje koje je vrlo složenije.
Abstract (english)
Python programming language uses automatic or manual memory management. Operating system gives memory locations to Python when it's program „asks“, and if there is any free locations program uses it for execution. After being used, Python's garbage collector clean those locations and gives it back to OS. If the garbage collector is disabled, after some time it can lead to memory leak, because program ran's out of memory. Reference counting, Mark-sweep, Mark-compact and Stop-and-copy are algoritms which gc uses for cleaning the memory. Those algoritms collect's used objects, treating them as a garbage, ande fees the memory for reuse. Also, there are some objects which are a part of cyclic elements of lists and can not be cleaned and reused. Those objects are deallocated. Garbage collector library contains of many methods which we use to manipulate execution of a program and memory locations used by that program. Those methods showing us currently memory state, collectable and uncollectable objects, collection process by generations, clean memory locations when invoked before the treshold is surpassed. Using automatic memory management allows more effective, reliable and simple execution of a program. If programmer want's to completely manipulate with memory allocation, will use manual memory management which is much more complicated to implement.
