Abstract
Ljudski mozak je nedokučivi organ i mali, ali najsloženiji sustav u prirodi za koji znamo. Većim dijelom je građen od neurona, čija oštećenja i/ili odumiranja, a samim tim i nefunkcionalnost, uzrokuju neurodegenerativne bolesti, među kojima su najpoznatije i najčešće Alzheimerova i Parkinsonova bolest. Obje bolesti se uglavnom javljaju u starijoj životnoj dobi, imaju raznovrsne čimbenike rizika, progresivne su, iscrpljujće i neizlječive. Dok u Alzheimerovoj nedostatak acetilkolina razara umne sposobnosti, u Parkinsonovoj bolesti nedostatak dopamina uzrokuje tremor, rigiditet mišića i akineziju te cijeli niz nemotoričkih simptoma. Nažalost, simptomi im se dijagnosticiraju tek u poodmaklim fazama, a liječenje je iznimno dugotrajno.
Abstract (english)
The human brain is an unfathomable organ and a small but most complex system in nature that we know of. It is mostly made up of neurons, whose damage and / or death, and thus dysfunction, are caused by neurodegenerative diseases, among which the most well-known and most common are Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Both diseases mostly occur in old age, have a variety of risk factors, are progressive, exhausting, and incurable. While in Alzheimer's the lack of acetylcholine destroys mental abilities, in Parkinson's disease the lack of dopamine causes tremor, muscle rigidity and akinesia and a whole range of non-motor symptoms. Unfortunately, their symptoms are diagnosed only in advanced stages, and the treatment is extremely longlasting.
